The Conception of the 1st Electric Tooth Brush

Amid the mid-century optimism of the 1964 New York World’s Fair, the towering Unisphere wasn't the only thing promising a shining "World of Tomorrow"—the future was also arriving in the form of automated tooth brush.  Westinghouse was so confident in the cultural shift toward automation that they sealed the electric toothbrush inside their legendary Time Capsule II. Buried fifty feet beneath Flushing Meadows alongside a bikini, a Polaroid camera, and tranquilizers, this humdrum artifact of daily grooming was cast 5,000 years into the future—destined to wait in the dark until the year 6939 as a definitive, vibrating monument to 20th-century progress.
